Returning home with his father after a shopping expedition, Wong Fei-Hong is unwittingly caught up in the battle between foreigners who wish to export ancient Chinese artifacts and loyalists who don't want the pieces to leave the country. Fei-Hong has learned a style of fighting called "Drunken Boxing", which makes him a dangerous person to cross. Unfortunately, his father is opposed to his engaging in any kind of fighting, let alone drunken boxing. Consequently, Fei-Hong not only has to fight against the foreigners, but he must overcome his father's antagonismwell.
Ever since I saw my first Jackie Chan movie (which was either this one or Police Story, I can't remember), I have been a rabid fan of his. I can't get enough of his movies; not just because of his dazzling fighting skills, but also the creativity and stunning choreography of his fight scenes. This movie, Police Story, and Fong Sai Yuk (with Jet Li) are the best kung fu movies I've ever seen.
oh! the legend of drunken master,what a super cool movie. its martial arts are the best. I'd name it drunken returns. this movie is my favorite forever. all humans have to watch this. because this movie is to furious & awesome. Jackie Chan is my favorite actor. and also this movie is my favorite to. plus the drunken fist/drunken boxing is most powerful technique allover the world. when I saw this first time,I was so nervous. this movie is 102 minutes lengthy but in this you can see that the fighting time is 30-40 minutes! that's why this is my favorite! I want to say that all guys have to watch this. this is the best martial arts movie ever. that's why this movie is rated 7.6/10.
A half-baked classic.
One has to differentiate between three versions. They only differ in the final scene. The International Version misses the whole finishing scene. In the US-Version this finishing scene is slightly longer, only the final shots have been cut. The only uncensored version can be found on the Chinese DVD.
